Karlyn McLeod grew up in Georgetown, South Carolina where she began taking dance classes at the age of 5. Karlyn continued dancing in Georgetown until her Junior year of high school when she attended the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities to study classical ballet and modern. After graduating in 2014, Karlyn attended Winthrop University both for her undergraduate degree in Frensh and her master’s degree in education. During her time at Winthrop she choreographed 3 musicals including 2 children’s musicals for Rock Hill Community Theater and a student directed play of Rag Tag Theatre’s Rapunzel. She also taught dance fitness classes for Winthrop students and faculty throughout her undergraduate and graduate years. Two years ago Karlyn moved to Columbia to begin teaching French at Ridge View High School where she also choreographed “Willy Wonka Jr.” Karlyn is very excited to begin her third year teaching at Bailey Fine Arts!
