Blair Kirkland is a Senior at the University of South Carolina Honors College, majoring in Dance Education at the Betsy Blackmon Dance Company. She’s looking forward to her student teaching semester in the Spring of this school year! She has experience in the styles of ballet/pointe, tap, jazz, theatrical, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and modern. Majority of her K-12 dance education consisted of taking classes at Bailey Fine Arts, where she was able to foster her passion for dance and teaching. Along with training done at the studio, Blair participated in the Joffrey Summer Musical Theatre Intensive and Gala in New York City, working with Broadway professionals from “Mean Girls” and “Catch Me If You Can.” She also attended the SC Summer Dance Conservatory Contemporary and Ballet Intensives during her K-12 dance education. While at Bailey’s, she served as a member of the Bailey Fine Arts Competition Company and loved performing with them at various competitions, Disney, and Universal Studios! Blair spent many years performing with Dance Theatre of Columbia as well. Her performances include DTC’s “Red Riding Hood,” “Wizard of Oz” (Glenda), “Babes in Toyland” (Bo Peep), and “Alice in Wonderland” (Alice). Blair was also honored to be selected as co-captain of her high school competition dance team, the Gray Collegiate Academy dance team, in their inaugural year. As a Freshman at the University of South Carolina, Blair trained with Complexions Contemporary Ballet (New York) during their Residency at the Betsy Blackmon Dance Company in the spring of 2024. She was also thrilled to train with the Joffery Ballet (Chicago) company members and faculty during their Residency at the Betsy Blackmon Dance Company in the spring of 2025. This past school year, Blair was thrilled to come back to BFA as a competition choreographer and looks forward to future teaching and choreography experiences with the studio!
