Blair kirkland

Blair Kirkland is a Junior at the University of South Carolina Honors College, majoring in Dance Education at the Betsy Blackmon Dance Company with a minor in Psychology. She has experience in the styles of ballet/pointe, tap, jazz, theatrical, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and modern. Blair has participated in the Joffrey Summer Musical Theatre Intensive and Gala in New York City, working with Broadway professionals from “Mean Girls” and “Catch Me If You Can.” Blair has also trained in many styles of dance at Broadway Dance Center in Manhattan, NY. She has attended the SC Summer Dance Conservatory Contemporary and Ballet Intensives. She served as a member of the Bailey Fine Arts Competition Company and she loved performing with the Company at Disney and Universal Studios! While at Disney, the company had the opportunity to train with working Disney professionals. Blair has performed her solos at competition and received Elite Platinum scores and top placements in her division, along with many other accolades, including scholarships and judge’s awards for Technique and Showmanship. She was also honored to be selected to compete in the Platinum National Dance Competition’s Ultimate Invitiational. Blair spent many years performing with Dance Theatre of Columbia. Her performances include DTC’s “Red Riding Hood,” “Wizard of Oz” (Glenda), “Babes in Toyland” (Bo Peep), and “Alice in Wonderland” (Alice). Blair was also honored to be selected as co-captain of her high school competition dance team, Gray Collegiate Academy, in their inaugural year. As a Freshman at the University of South Carolina, Blair trained with Complexions Contemporary Ballet (New York) during their Residency at the Betsy Blackmon Dance Company in the spring of 2024. As a Sophomore, she was selected to participate in the USC Faculty Choreography Spring Concert, presented by the Betsy Blackmon Dance Company, and she was featured as a soloist in the hip hop performance. She was also thrilled to train with the Joffery Ballet (Chicago) company members and faculty during their Residency at the Betsy Blackmon Dance Company in the spring of 2025. 2024-2025 was an amazing time for dance at USC!
