Laura Dean

Laura Dean has been dancing since she was six years old and has been trained in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, and lyrical. She learned dance at Bailey Fine Arts Centre under the direction of Cari Kirkland and at Palmetto Center for the Arts under the direction of Anne Richardson. This will be her seventh year teaching at Bailey Fine Arts Centre. She also spent a year teaching dance to the team girls at Carolina Gymnastics and served during the 2014 summer as an AmeriCorps Vista Summer Associate teaching in Oxford, Mississippi. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina Honors College. She most recently taught the rising first graders in Oxford, Mississippi with the Horizons summer program and has joined the staff at Center For Inquiry as a first grade teacher.

Laura has competed with the Bailey Fine Arts Competition Company at Platinum competitions and with the High Pointe Dance team at Starbound, Encore, and the Youth American Grand Prix competitions. She has performed in “Alice in Wonderland”, “Red Riding Hood”, and “Babes in Toyland” with the Dance Theatre of Columbia, and in numerous performances with the Palmetto Center for the Arts. This will be her third year serving on the Dance Theatre Board of Directors. She is excited to begin this new year at Bailey Fine Arts.
